The movie caught the eye of Utah-based custom builder Bangerter Homes, especially Blair Bangerter, who fell in love with the idea that a similar home could be purchased and lived in by a family that will start to build memories the day they move in, just like Carl and Ellie.

Two years and many long conversations with Disney/Pixar later, Bangerter Homes had the go-ahead to recreate the house – a rare occurrence from Disney that limited permission to building just one home.

The Bangerter design team poured over film footage of the house to create an exact replica, imagining the unseen parts of the house. A challenge in the design was finding the right windows. In the movie, the couple fixes up an old house with boarded-up windows, but Bangerter was building in the new-to-look-old style.

To find the best solution, Bangerter turned to Salt Lake City-based All Purpose Windows and Doors. The two companies had a long working history, so understanding the unique challenges of the project, including the budget, led to fast window selection: Andersen® 100 Series windows.

So, when a trusted sales manager from Mathew Hall Lumber suggested that Reker try the new Andersen® exterior trim system for his homes, Reker considered the benefits of saving time on the job site with the high-quality, low-maintenance features of the trim product, and its fit with the development’s philosophy of simple, classic quality.
